She was walking through the same street when she saw a familiar figure standing silently, as if it had been waiting for her.

Sabrina waved at the girl, merry and joyous. The sky had once again gone scarlet, as if someone had put a fire on it. "Hi!"

The girl paused for a second, uncertain. But then she continued her pace and walked away from the yellow-haired girl. As she had thought, Sabrina would run beside her.

She, rather anxious, turned the music a little louder so she could not hear anything Sabrina had said to her. Sabrina swore she could hear music from a distance.

But then she grasped the headphone and took it off the girl's ears. The girl, being very annoyed now, shouted. "What did you do that for?" She was ready to put it back on her ears, but Sabrina had taken her wrist faster.

"Come with me." She grinned.

The girl started to protest, but Sabrina did not seem to notice. She pulled the girl, forcing her to come with her. Her grasp was strong enough for a little girl, the girl noticed. And she ran faster than any other kid. She found herself already gasping for air.

They turned several corners and walked through several hideous streets. They came into a crowded street. Here, Sabrina let her go.

The girl stared at her impatiently. "Now, would you mind explain your rudeness?"

There were crowds, actually. Some of them were wearing worn clothes and their feet had no shoes. Their clothes were different from ones in the palace or royal families. They were not dazzling. Nor they seemed neat and clean. They were far from them, but there was something in them that made someone understood they were not actually unlucky.  They were gathering around the fire, chattering and laughing. The women were passing bowls of food.

The girl stared at Sabrina, demanding an explanation or two.

Sabrina grinned and pulled her toward the crowds. "Come now! We shouldn't miss them!"

The girl argued. "What is this nonsense? I must go home now or else my father-"

Sabrina stopped herself from pulling her, for her relief. But it was because they were now standing near the crowds.

"I said-" She began again, but Sabrina interrupted her.

"Hush!" She grinned. "Listen!"

She opened her mouth to start another protest, but something finally stopped her. There was something in the air, something sweet and soft, melting with the warmness of the fire and the nice smell of food.

It was music.

A man, standing across, was playing his pipe. The tune was just a whisper, humming deep and low. The tune was there for seconds as if had danced through the fingers of the licking fire. Then it turned into a high-pitched tune. Yet it sounded wonderful. The tune seemed to travel across the land, through the hideous dark streets, palaces, parks, and to the streaming river. And it rose to the highest red of the sky above. The girl found herself dumbstruck.

The only thing that woke her up from her astonishment was a bowl of warm soup. Sabrina handed it to her, smiling. Confused, she received it and took a sip. It was warm and had smells of herbs. Yet it felt strangely delicious. Not a kind of soup you would find in any royal houses or palaces, but a simple soup. A soup.

They were sitting on a log near the fire, listening the clattering crowds.

"Are you taking me just to show that?"

Sabrina found herself astonished. She gazed at the girl. "Yes."

She shrugged. "It was wonderful. Do they always do that?"

Sabrina's lips pursed into a smile. "Yes. Every nights."

"It was wonderful, the way they did it," said she. "But why did you show this to me?"

She sipped her soup; her gaze flew to the crackling fire.

This did not receive a quick reply. She turned her head and stared at Sabrina. She was just smiling innocently.

"Why, to show you that you won't need any headphone to hear any music."

The girl stiffened a while, but then she laughed. She had never laughed like that for a very long time. This girl was totally mad, she thought. Yet she could not blame her.

"I'm Xi."
